Sean McClellan
Sean McClellan is no stranger in the progressive house scene; he has been respectively DJing for the last 15 years. Sean is known for his eclectic mixing, long overlays and smooth transitions. As a DJ for the past 14 years, he has gained respect and recognition for his technical abilities and musical intuition. As a student of sound, Sean pursued classical training playing the trumpet in both symphonic and marching band, but found his passion in deep, emotional, progressive house.
Sean was first part of Progressive Collective, which first brought worldwide progressive talent to Charlotte. He has played with some of the most influential DJs in the industry including Jimmy Van, Chris Fortier, Lee Burridge, Cass, Anthony Pappa, MARA, Bill Hamel, and Jerry Bonham. Sean has held many residencies over the past ten years at numerous clubs and hosted some of the biggest events in Charlotte.
In 2001, Sean formed KVK with Gordon Carpenter for his electronic aspirations. In September 2002 Deep Isolation was released on Gravitation Records and reached the Top 10 on the Balance Record charts. Two years later, Reality Theory was picked up by Bedrock Breaks receiving massive support from the likes of Jonathan Lisle, John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, and Anthony Pappa. Reality Theory was also featured on two compilations: Anthony Pappa Balance 006 and Layered Sounds 2. KVK has also seen releases with Silver Planet, Vinyl Vice and Sentient Audio Collective .
In late 2005 Sean travelled to UK to stay with Source of Gravity’s Chris Sterio, the trip included a gig at Audio Deluxe in London as well as a mix and interview for Energy FM in the Isle of Man. Following that Sean began to develop his own solo production career, with releases and remixes for labels like Source of Gravity Digital, Fiberlineaudio, Bellarine, Pangea, 1 Shot and Segment.
Source of Gravity artist Sean McClellan has been busy in recent months. He completed a remix for Matt Darey’s Urban Astronauts in late 2008, recruited by Darey himself after hearing his remix of “Burning For You” by Steve McGrath on Source of Gravity Digital. Following on from that he has a collaboration with Andy Newland under the guise of “Atlantic Connection” coming out on the Denver based Polytechnic Recordings label. That’s not to mention “Desperate Measures out on Morphosis in the near future, and the monster “Crowder’s Mountain” collaboration due for release on Source of Gravity Digital in the summer. He also has side projects with Source A & R Chad McNeely as “Moonchine”, and also “Blacklist” with Charlotte based DJ/producer Chuck Martin, and in addition completed a collaboration called “Moody Fusion” with Sasha Le Monnier.
Sean has been working hard the last few months in preparation for his debut album to be released on Source of Gravity Digital fall of 2010. Besides that he has just finished up three remixes that will be released soon on 7 Seas Recordings based out of Hungary and a blinding remix of Sasha Le Monnier Inspired By Those soon to be released on Source of Gravity Digital Recordings.
Sean has also worked with UK legend Andy Newland on his recent trip to the states and completed two tracks, one which is forthcoming on none other than Baroque Records, which is a collaboration with Moonchine, which is Sean McClellan and Chad McNeely. Be on the lookout for remixes coming out on Stripped Recordings in the near future as well.
