Kicksy (aka Karim Ragab) and Alif Groove (A.B Klady / Aggsi) are not the most obvious musical partners. Kicksy is based in Cairo, while Alif Groove are based in London.
Karim spent his early teenage years listening to 2pac and his parents'classical Arabic and French music tapes, but by the age of 16 he started to get hooked on electronic sounds of Paul Van Dyk and Nick Warren. Klady on the other hand, used to play bass and guitar in a local Egyptian band, but slowly started to fall in love with electronic music.
In 2006 Karim and Klady met in Cairo, sharing their thoughts, ideas and passion for music.
They had their 1st EP released in 2009 on Plastic Fantastic Records after playing together for more than 3 years starting in Egypt and later online!. The track "Out Of nowhere" caught the attention of various Djs including "Nick Warren", "Stefan Anion" and "Q-Burns Abstract Message" leading to "out of nowhere" remix package which was released on Plastic Fantastic in Nov 09.
Alif Groove holds a weekly residency in East London's Corbert place, B-sides and T.E.M.B.A. and has played in some of london's best underground clubs like The Egg, Cafe 1001, Bar 512, and Rhythm Factory to name a few.
