Not many musicians can move around the many genres of music as easily as Bill Thomason (who writes/produces under the Bitfiend name). Having been a drummer since his mid teens and a DJ since his early twenties.

He instinctively understands rhythm at his core and it is a universal appeal he taps into easily. Whether he is DJ’ing in a club or behind his drum-set on stage, he creates and plays music that gives emotion a voice and creates a journey for the listener.

His DJ’ing career began in the winter of ‘95/’96, with his first residency starting in March of ‘96 (lasting until August of ‘98) at the legendary and now defunct after-hours club Synergy. There he played 9 hours sets every Friday in the second room.

From there, he and partner Byron Holstine began hosting Tranceformation on Saturday nights in November of ‘98 (lasting until March of ‘01) at the Snake Pit, another infamous club in the Denver underground scene with legendary nights such as, Breakdown (Thursday nights) hosted by Fury and Skunk Motel (Monday nights) hosted by DJ Skunk. Tranceformation was nominated for best club night in Denver in the ‘97 Denver Dance Music Awards. Bill and Byron shared the tables with some of electronica’s biggest DJ’s during Tranceformation, such as Steve Gerrard, Jerry Bonham and Boyd Westerman to name a few.

In the spring of ‘98 Bill Thomason, opened Fuel Record Store. Which DJ Keoki made a point of shopping at every time he was in Denver saying it was “one of the best record stores anywhere”. Additionally between ‘97 & ‘99 Bill Thomason, was a resident for 2 different radio shows on the University of Colorado’s Radio Station KUCB. Each lasted 6 to 8 months and was about a year apart. In May ‘01(lasting until September ‘01) Bill Thomason, made the jump to another stalwart in the Denver underground scene, Rock Island, when he started hosting Static every Sunday night in the basement. Bill Thomason, took on Denver’s second after-hours club in November of ‘03 (lasting until October ‘04) club Amsterdam, hosting Fuel on Friday nights. Guests such as Shawn Astrom, Gift, Little Mike, and others played. His last residency was at La Sala, hosting Absolutely every Friday night. This started in March of ‘04 and went until April of ‘05.

In ‘04 Bill Thomason, was nominated for Best Local DJ in the Best of Westword awards. Currently Bill Thomason Hosts Audiophonic presented by Polytechnic Recordings on danceradio.gr, he also does a weekly guest set on ProFM.nl other guest DJ’s on ProFM include Christopher Lawrence, Jose Amnesia, Peter McGowan and Gilbert Renoir.

For Bill Thomason, music is his first love and what moves and motivates him is being able to share and play music for other people. What the future holds for this talented artist we will have to wait and see.
